“Justice, I’ve got to show you something,” I walked into the President’s office and threw down the flash drive on the pile of papers on her desk.
The interior of her office was so outdated. We needed to have the entire place redone. Wood paneling surrounded the room. Her desk was as old as the entire building. The gavel that was on her desk had to be older than her. One would think she was as rustic as the place she spent most of her time when she was at the compound, but she was quite modern. Her house was similar to mine. It was remodeled and had a blossoming garden that was the rival of the neighbors.
“What’s this?” she snatched it and slid it in the appropriate slot in her laptop.
“Something you need to see.” I sat across from her and waited.
My heart was beating because after waking up in a cold sweat to a dream that had nothing to do with the man that was in my bed. I realized I had a dream that was both horrifying, but it also confirmed what I needed to do. Someone was assassinated and they were on that list that only I knew about. That meant my job wasn’t technically done.
“Is this what I think it is?” Justice murmured as she scrolled through the spreadsheet. “These are very powerful people and some of them have mysteriously died within the past few years. “
My head nodded at her observation.
“This is a hit list,” she hissed.
“Yeah, Prez. It’s a hit list. Literally.” I answered. “On one of my jobs, I came across it and deleted the entire hard drive, but I kept the information, which I usually don’t. There was something suspicious about the urgency of this wipe.”
“Who set that up?” She asked, pulling her eyes from the screen but with the look of ‘holy shit’ written all over it.
“Contact of mine. He didn’t say much, but knew it was some bad shit.” I shared, keeping my clients confidential. I also knew this could be that line when it came to people’s lives.
“Got to call Razor about this, Cut. You okay with that?” She asked unnecessarily.
“Figured.” I nodded.
One phone call had the President of the National Organization, along with his Vice President, Sergeant at Arms, and Road Captain here within the hour. These guys were bad asses just like Caleb. I wondered why he wasn’t a part of an MC. Hell, maybe he was but never wore a cut. Neither did I around him or when I was out of town. I’d have to ask.
“Darling, you came by this information how?” Razor’s gravelly voice interrupted the conversation I was having with Apollo, the Legion of Guardians’ Sergeant-at-Arms. This man looked as if he ate nails for dinner, but he wore his wedding band proudly on his finger. I’d heard that he won his wife back after doing a dick move which had her not speaking to him for almost a year. The
